Spermatogenesis is temperature-sensitive — the testes hang outside the body precisely because sperm production requires a temperature 2–4°C below core body temperature. Modern habits systematically undermine this: laptops on laps, heated car seats, tight synthetic underwear, sedentary desk work, extended cycling, and regular hot baths or saunas all raise scrotal temperature. Even a sustained 1°C elevation measurably impairs sperm production and quality.
