Exercise is profoundly beneficial for reproductive health — but extremely high volumes of endurance training (long-distance running, triathlon, cycling) crosses into territory where catabolic hormonal stress outweighs the benefits. Prolonged aerobic exercise elevates cortisol, suppresses testosterone, creates energy deficit signalling, and generates substantial oxidative stress. Ironically, many of the fittest-looking men in endurance sport have testosterone levels more characteristic of clinical hypogonadism.
